Second annual Manitoulin Deer Show promises great line up of events and activities for the whole family

MANITOWANING— The second annual Manitoulin Deer Show is less than two weeks away and the committee is ready and excited for it to happen following last year’s success.

A lineup of amazing experts to talk about all the different components of the whitetail deer throughout the day that include Mark Ryckman from the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Steve Elmy from Rackstacker, Rob Argue from Quality Deer Management Association and Neil Debassige of Fuel the Fire.

Guests of the Manitoulin Deer Show also have an opportunity to win three firearms and a game camera. “As soon as you walk in the door, we have some great door prizes lined up and one of them is a brand new firearm!” exclaimed Assiginack projects and events coordinator Jackie White. “Another easy way to have a chance to win a firearm is by bringing in up to five recipes with venison in them that you use to cook with and enter your name in a draw. Our goal is to be able to put together a venison cookbook of tried and true recipes created by those that cook with them and have for sale next year. If you have a mount you would like to show off, please bring it in and enter your name to win a firearm. Lastly show us your cooking skills and bring in a dish with venison in it to have our judges determine if it will be the one to win a game camera!”

Vendors include Perry’s Gun Shop, Ken Blue’s used guns, Fogal’s of Manitoulin, Rylan’s and more.

There will also be a target shooting contest, and a chance to try archery with a world class archer.

With refreshments available, free parking, loads of whitetail deer information and activities, plan to make a day of it on Saturday, August 22 from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is $10 for adults, children 12+ is $5 and under 12 is free. For scheduling and all information, please visit www.manitoulindeershow.com.
