Scott Woods show coming to Little Current September 14

LITTLE CURRENT—The Scott Woods ‘Yee Haw’ show is coming to Manitoulin Island! The popular and Canadian champion fiddler, together with his incredibly talented entourage, will be on stage at the Northeast Manitoulin and the Islands Recreation Centre in Little Current on Saturday, September 14. The show begins at 7 pm.

The Scott Woods performances in previous stops on Manitoulin have always played to packed houses so it might be wise to mark the September 14 date on your calendar now and line up tickets before they’re all gone.

Scott Woods himself is a multiple-time winner of both the Canadian Open Fiddle Contest and the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship and has been named Canadian Fiddle Entertainer of the Year. He holds the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddlers Association.

But when Scott Woods comes to town, it’s with his band…and more.

The current tour, called ‘Yee Haw’, is a nod to the popular and iconic television show of the same name, and echoes the same features.
A true variety show, the Scott Woods Band brings traditional Canadian country music, gospel, stepdancing and lots of family-friendly humour to the stage.

Costumes and antics include Scott’s famous trick fiddling. (He walks on a barrel and does a running somersault, all while playing the fiddle!)

Part of the Scott Woods Yee Haw tour is his sister, Kendra Norris, likewise a champion fiddler. She also contributes essential piano pieces, accordion as well as harmony and lead vocals.

Leo Stock, a 20-year-old phenomenon, is also part of the band playing drums, fiddle, singing but, especially, stepdancing, a skill that has earned him the nickname ‘Spaghetti legs’ because of his whirlwind dance style.

A special guest performer for the ‘Yee Haw’ tour is Kurk Bernard, a traditional country singer and bass guitarist who has played and sung with Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Tommy Hunter and Ronnie Prophet.

The show is live but also features big-screen projection so guests in every corner of the hall can, of course, hear the live music but also see it projected on the giant screen.

Tickets are $45 each (HST included) and are available now (cash only) at The Expositor Office in Little Current or by calling Gail at (705)368-2589.

You can also call the Scott Woods Band toll-free at 1-855-726-8896 or visit the band’s website, www.ScottWoods.ca to order your tickets, using your credit card for payment in both cases.

This event is hosted by Little Current United Church.
