Tickets are on sale now at Expositor Offices
MANITOULIN—Canadian fiddle champion Scott Woods, together with his band, are back on tour and will be presenting a show on Manitoulin on Wednesday, May 3 at 7 pm at the NEMI Recreation Centre hall. The Manitoulin Island event is hosted by Little Current United Church.
Tickets are available at The Expositor Offices in Little Current and Gore Bay (cash sales only) and from Gail Gjos, 705-368-2589. If you wish to purchase tickets with a credit card, call the Scott Woods Band at 1-855-726-8896.
A reminder: there is limited seating and tickets are selling quickly.
Scott woods and his band have played several other concerts on the Island. Most recently, about six years ago, the concert was again hosted by the United Church in Little Current with local ticket proceeds earmarked for a Manitoulin Centennial Manor fundraising event then underway to improve the life of Manor residents.
Previous to that, Scott Woods and his band performed on two different occasions, at Providence Bay, hosted by the Providence Bay Community of Christ Church.
Scott Woods is from Fergus and is a two-time winner of the Canadian Open Fiddle Contest in Shelburne. He is also the two-time Masters Fiddling Champion. He has been named the Canadian Fiddle Entertainer of the Year.
The Manitoulin show is billed as an Old Fashioned Hoedown and the Woods ensemble features some of Canada’s finest and most talented musicians.
Scott Woods’ sister Kendra is part of the show. She’s one-half (with her brother) of three Canadian fiddle duet championships.
Leo Stock, who is only 18, is Canada’s Open Step Dancing champion. (He’s also a fiddler, sings and is a drummer.)
The Scott Woods Band is back on tour after a pandemic-forced hiatus, so Manitoulin Island is fortunate to have booked a date on the group’s busy cross-Canada schedule.
Come on out to what promises to be, not just a show but entertainment for everyone.
