School bus involved in mishap

M’CHIGEENG—Fortunately no students or the bus driver of a school bus bound for Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) were injured in an accident this past Wednesday.

Renee Boucher, executive director of the Sudbury Student Services Consortium (SSSC), told the Recorder Wednesday afternoon, “there was a bus accident this morning involving a Brown’s school bus with Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) students on board. Fortunately there were no student or bus driver injuries as a result of the accident, and practically no damage done to the school bus itself.”

Ms. Boucher explained the accident occurred at close to 9 am in front of the Lakeview Elementary School in M’Chigeeng. “One vehicle hit another vehicle, which in turn hit the school bus while it was on its way to MSS.”

“We evacuated the students from the bus and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the police were contacted and were on the scene make sure the students and the bus driver was alright,” said Ms. Boucher.
