School boards approve 2024-2025 school year calendar

SUDBURY—The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon (CSC Nouvelon), Rainbow District School Board (RDSB), Sudbury Catholic District School Board (SCDSB) and Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord have approved the school year calendar for 2024-2025.

“The 2024-2025 school year calendar will be the same for all English and French-language schools in Greater Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin Island and Sudbury East (including Warren, Markstay, Noelville, St. Charles and Killarney).

The 2024-2025 school year for students will begin on Tuesday, September 3 following the Labour Day weekend. There will be no early dismissal.

In addition to the first day of school, the school year calendar includes the dates for the Christmas break, March break, statutory holidays, secondary school examination days and professional activity days in 2024-2025.

Labour Day is September 2, while the first day of school for students will be September 3. Thanksgiving will take place October 14 while the Christmas break will be from December 23 to January 3. 

The Family Day holiday will be celebrated on February 27. A school board designated holiday will take place March 7 while the mid-winter break will be from March 10-14. Good Friday is April 18 with Easter Monday on April 21. The Victoria Day holiday will take place May 19. 

The last day of school for students will be June 27.

For secondary school students the first semester will run from September 3 to January 30. Second semester will start on January 31 to June 27. 

Examination days for secondary school students will take place January 24-30 and from June 23-27, 2025.

Seven days for professional development activities will take place during the school year including August 30, September 27, November 1, November 29, January 31, March 31 and June 6.
