MANITOWANING— Runners from schools across Manitoulin gathered at Rainbow Ridge Golf Course recently for the annual Wikwemikong Invitational Cross Country Track Meet.
In the individual results for age 8 girls, Zaagaasge Corbiere of Lakeview School came in first place, with Natalia Pitawanakwat of Wikwemikong coming in second place and Jasmine Staruck of Wikwemikong coming in third place.
In the age 8 boys individual school division, Cody Campbell of Central Manitoulin Public School (CMPS) came in first place, followed by Mathis Budin of Assiginack in second place and Rylan Pennie of Assiginack coming in third.
In the age 9/10 individual school girls’ division, Delaney Bridgeman of CMPS came in first place, Ava Assininewai of CMPS came in second place and Maren Kasunick of Lakeview School came in third.
In the age 9/10 individual school boys’ division Brodie Pennie of Assiginack came in first place, Jesse Burella of C.C. McLean came in second place and Jayden Hayden of C.C. McLean came in third.
In the age 11/12 girls’ individual school division Avery Sutherland of Shawonasawe School came in first place, Victoria Trudeau of Wikwemikong came in second place and Francesca Pheasant of Wikwemikong came in third place.
In the age 11/12 boys’ individual school division Nyron Panamick of Lakeview School came in first place, Johnny Bushy of Lakeview School came in second place and Liam Bridgeman of CMPS came in third.
In the over age 13 girls’ individual school division, Majorie Scott of CMPS came in first place, Mia Otosquiob of Assiginack Public School came in second and Larissa Chevrette of C.C. Mclean Public School came in third place.
In the over age 13 boys’ individual school division, Ryan Jones of Assiginack Public School came in first place, Ian Dokum of Wikwemikong came in second place and Gabriel Trudeau of Wikwemikong came in third place.
In the age 8 girls’ team event CMPS came in first with a score of 24 and three points, Wikwemikong came in second place with a score of 27 and two points, C.C. McLean Public School came in third with a score of 47 and one point while Lakeview School came in fourth with a score of 77 and .5 points.
In the age 8 boys’ team event Assiginack Public School came in first place with a team score of 18 and three points, CMPS came in second place with 27 points and two points, CC McLean Public School came in third place with a team score of 55 and one point while Wikwemikong came in third place with a team score of 86 and .5 points.
In the age 9/10 girls’ event, it was CMPS in first place with a team score of 21 and three points, Wikwemikong came in second place with a team score of 41 points and two points, Lakeview School came in third place with a team score of 50 points and and one points and Shawonasawe School came in fourth place with a team score of 98 and .5 points.
In the 9/10 boys’ team event, CC McLean was in first place with a team score of 13 and three points, Assiginack Public School came in second with a team score of 50 and two points, Wikwemikong came in third place with a team score of 66 and one point and CMPS came in third with .5 points.
In the 11/12 girls’ team event, Wikwemikong came in first place with a score of 14 and three points, CC McLean came in second place with a score of 36 and two points, CMPS came in third with a team score of 46 and one point and Assiginack Public School came in fourth place with a team score of 63 and .5 points.
In the 11/12 boys’ event Lakeview School and CC McLean Public School were tied with team scores of 26 and three points.
In the 13-plus team events, CMPS came in first in the girls’ event with a team score of 21 ands three points and Wikwemikong came in first in the boys’ event with a teams score of 16 and three points.
The overall championship of the 2015 Wikwemikong Invitational Cross Country Meet went to CC McLean Public School with a total score of 13 points, second place went to Wikwemikong with 11.5 points and third place went to CMPS with 9.5 points.
