GORE BAY—The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Branch 514 in Gore Bay has held its annual executive election for 2023-2024.

“We have an excellent executive in place,” stated President Marilyn Clarke after the executive election meeting May 28. She is joined on the executive by immediate past president Jim Woods, first vice president Trevor Wright, second vice president Beverly Wright, third vice president Michael Lalonde, secretary Annie Porter, treasurer Leigh Major and sergeant at arms Jim Kiviaho.

Ms. Clarke also said that recently the RCL Branch #514 received an achievement award from the RCL zone command. “The Legion Ontario Command 2022 Achievement Award was presented to Western Manitoulin Branch #514 in recognition of attaining 100 percent or more of the previous year’s membership. This means that the large majority of our current membership will continue for another year, and along with that we have 26 new members who are paid up in membership for 2023-2024.”

The RCL Branch 514 will be holding a general membership meeting on June 14 at 8 pm.
