In loving memory of Roy Campbell, a resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, who died at the Nursing Home on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the age of 83 years. He was born on Barrie Island, son of the late William and Emma (Bailey) Campbell. Roy had farmed most all his life until his retirement except for a short while sailing and working in Elliot Lake. He had a wide range of interests, which included bird watching, snow machining, and in earlier years playing hockey, and was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan. He also was a supporter of the Friends of Misery Bay. Roy had also served his community, serving on Barrie Island Council for 29 years. Roy is survived by sister Jean Cosby (Clarence predeceased) of Little Current, Evelyn Yurick (Peter predeceased) of Kelowna B.C., Morley Campbell (Stella), of Evansville and Rodney Campbell (Roberta) of Sudbury. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home after 7 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2011. The funeral service to celebrate Roy’s life was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel of the funeral home on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 11 am with Pastor Erwin Thompson officiating. Interment in Burpee-Mills Cemetery.
