Rockin’ the Rock returns this weekend to Little Current

LITTLE CURRENT—Come Friday, August 5 this old rock is gonna be rockin’ as Flat Rock Entertainment Centre brings back the popular Rockin’ the Rock music festival.

New this year will be a sunset cruise with North Channel Cruise Lines featuring Toe Jam Tequila.

“It’s something we thought would be a great addition to Rockin’ the Rock,” said promoter KT Timmermans. “It has been really exciting to work with people again. Musical entertainment was among the first to go during the pandemic and among the last to return.”

Returning it is, and with an amazing lineup. Headliner Kim Mitchell will take the stage along with Sass Jordan, Sweet and Toe Jam Tequila. The news could hardly get better, but Honeymoon Suite will headline Saturday, August 6 with Streetheart, Nick Gilder and Sweeney Todd and Pop Machine filling out the roster. Come rain or shine, things are going to be rocking.

Camping is available on-site and many folks are choosing to stay right through the week for Manitoulin Country Fest.

Rockin’ the Rock depends a lot on volunteers, noted Ms. Timmermans, and although some volunteers have dropped off over the last couple of years, a host of new faces have stepped up to assist.

“We always like to see volunteers,” she said. “It takes a lot of hands to make something like this work.”

The festivals remain mindful of COVID-19 and will be following public health guidelines. “We encourage everyone to be kind and patient,” said Ms. Timmermans, “particularly towards our volunteers who will be doing the best job they can.”

Masks and wipes will be available and folks are more than welcome to wear them as needed for their own comfort and peace of mind. “Safety is top of mind, always,” said Ms. Timmermans.

There is no separate tenting and RV area, each will be mixed and matched as they come. Tickets are necessary to be on the festival grounds. Campers can arrive on Thursday, August 4 at noon but the gates close at 10 pm. Remember to bring money for the vendors and merchandise.

Tickets from 2020 will be honoured and can be transferred or purchased by contacting Flat Rock Entertainment Centre at (705) 368-1998, toll free at 1-866-755-7425 or email at info@manitoulincountryfest.com. They can also be purchased online at frec.me.

General admission for the weekend is $110. Friday admission only is $50 and Saturday online is $60.
