LITTLE CURRENT—Work is underway on Robinson Street in Little Current to replace a section of force main from the Robinson Street pumping station (at the end of Robinson Street by the Manitoulin Centennial Manor) to the section of road in front of the Channel View Apartments at the corner of Robinson and Dupont Streets.
“The force main carries the waste from the Robinson Street pumping station to the Water Street pumping station where it is then pushed out to the lagoon,” explained town CAO Dave Williamson. “The line had experienced a number of breaks in the past and public works, supported by council, felt it was time to upgrade this section.”
Mr. Williamson noted that work was a capital project with a $240 budgeted cost which includes the cost of construction and the restoration of the road.
He also added that the project was being done by Lacroix Construction and is to be completed by Friday, July 25.
