In loving memory of Robert “Bob” Edward Sandberg, 79 years, who passed away peacefully, Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Maison Vale Hospice, with loving family at his side. Loving husband of 58 years of Heather Sandberg (nee Beauchamp). Beloved father of Trevor, predeceased, and Shawna. Dear son of Charles T. and Sadie (Rauhala) Sandberg, both predeceased. Dear brother of Charlie and Ray, both predeceased. Bob fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was a man who enjoyed the outdoors. His many outdoor activities included hunting, fishing, snowmachining, and downhill skiing. Bob was a loving and dedicated father and husband. Bob and his son Trevor spent many enjoyable hours flying. A true lover of antiques, he spent many hours refinishing antique furniture and restoring antique clocks. Many wonderful family hours were spent together at his camp on Long Lake and his summer home in Providence Bay on Manitoulin Island. Robert was a graduate of Queen’s University as a chemical engineer. He worked at INCO for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was the original owner and operator of the Weed Man franchise. The family expresses their appreciation to Dr. Jane Cox, the doctors and staff at the Regional Cancer Center and the Maison Vale Hospice for their excellent care, support, and compassion. At Robert’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation at the Park Lawn Cremaotrium. Donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. (Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home).
