Rainbow Board presents special awards
RAINBOW DISTRICT—Several Manitoulin Island educators and organizations have received special awards from the Rainbow District School Board (RDSB).
RDSB paid tribute to dedicated employees and community partners this past Wednesday, May 25. Employees with 25 years of service were also recognized.
A Go Green Globe Award for 2015 was presented to Central Manitoulin Public School (CMPS) in Mindemoya.
Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association was presented with a 2016 Community Partnership Award.
Awards for excellence for 2015 were presented to Beth Davidson, a teacher at Central Manitoulin Public School, as well as teacher Heather Theijsmeijer at Manitoulin Secondary School.
Local rider finishes in top three in first two races of season
COLLINGWOOD—Alex Anstice of Tehkummah has finished in the top three in both of his races as a member of the Walden Mountain Bike Club’s Wolfpak Racing/Inception Cyclery team.
The Wolfpak team was on the podium again May 15 at the Scott Ontario Cup XC series event near Collingwood.
Wolfpak racers endured snow and muddy conditions for the race. Mr. Anstice made it two straight podium trips by placing third in the Master Expert 30-39 male field finishing with a time of 1:19:02.
Earlier this season, at the Ontario Cup No.1 in Woodnewton, Ontario, Mr. Anstice showed good early season form by placing second in the Master Expert 30-39 Male field in one hour 36 minutes, 35 seconds.
