In loving memory of Richard “Rick” Michael Daniel Zimmerman, 74 years. It is with great sadness the family announce his peaceful passing on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, with us, his loving family by his side. Beloved husband and best friend of Sandy Zimmerman (nee Finholm). Loving father of Tracy Halonen (Jason) and Sara Zimmerman. Proud grandfather of Shanda, Bradley, Bryan and Michael. Big brother of Jamie Zimmerman (Fran). He will be missed by his step-daughters Barb Farnsworth and Rebecca Advocaat. Predeceased by his parents Arnold and Jean Zimmerman (nee Stokes), his brother Art Zimmerman, and his first wife Judy (nee Sheritt). Rick was a proud serving Sudbury Regional Police Officer for 32 years. Upon his retirement, he moved to his camp on Manitoulin Island where he enjoyed many good times and made lots of memories. He was an avid collector of guns, antiques and police memorabilia. He enjoyed hunting and spent many happy deer hunting seasons with family and friends. One of his passions was metal detecting and he spent countless hours displaying the many treasures he found. He had many great stories and enjoyed sharing them with anyone who stopped by for a visit. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians (195 Applegrove Street, Sudbury) from 2 to 5 pm with words of remembrance at 3 pm. The family will be inviting anyone who wishes to share some memories about Richard to speak. Donations to the Health Sciences North Foundation – ICU Department would be appreciated by the family.
