RICHARD “RICK” CAMPBELL
1956 -2024
In loving memory of Richard “Rick” Campbell, 68 years, who passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024. Much loved husband of Jill. Survived by his brother David, sister Cori, sister-in-law Juli and mother-in-law Fern. Also survived by his nieces Kayleigh (Jim), Jade and Kristy (Andy); great- nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Shirley Campbell, sister Anne, brother-in-law Bert and father-in-law Doug. Rick worked in a variety of jobs in his younger life before settling back in Pickering on Mulberry Lane. He was most proud of his years as a Crane Operator and a member of the Operating Engineers Local L0793B, and stayed in contact with his brothers. His years on Mulberry were a great source of enjoyment for him. The rural environment so close to the city allowed him to entertain friends and family for meals, campfires, skating parties and general merriment. He travelled North for his great loves of hunting and fishing – to the Stephens’ camp on the Spanish for moose hunting and Manitoulin for deer hunting and fishing. After meeting Jill in 2004, he decided to move to Manitoulin Island permanently. For the last 20 years he enjoyed these pastimes, as well as volunteering in his new community, and entertaining in town and at the lake. He was embraced by a whole new group of friends and family and was always so appreciative of how they welcomed him here. He loved his neighbourhood, his hunting property, his time at the camp and the life he built in Gore Bay. Rick was a proud member of the Legion Branch 514 Gore Bay. There will be a Celebration of his Life at the Branch on September 14, 2024 at 1 pm. Donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 514 or the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary.
