To the Expositor:
I was impressed with the letter to his brother Natives to stop or at least reconsider the ugly installation of windmills on our beautiful island, to save the wildlife and forego the monetary benefits. (‘Wind tubine money is a deal with the devil,’ September 11, page 4) Many have had the same fight on the mainland.
I would like to also appeal to the excessive Native net fishing in Mindemoya Lake. It’s also for the money but many know that more fish are discarded and unsold than are actually sold, especially from abandoned nets. The big question is ‘what will you do when the fishing in the lake is totally dead (pretty close now)?’ How about net fishing alternate years. Oh, you think it’s a bad idea? Stop for one moment and at least think about your own future generations.
