MANITOWANING—The Township of Assiginack is interested in determining the feasibility of owning and operating an arts and entertainment centre. And public input is being sought.
“It’s something that we are still considering and are looking into,” Assiginack Mayor Brenda Reid told The Expositor. “There will be lots of public involvement and consultation as we go through the process.”
“The Township of Assiginack is interested in determining if it is feasible for the community to own and operate an arts and entertainment centre. We are exploring the use of the Roller Mills biding on our waterfront as a location,” said Mayor Reid.
Mayor Reid explained, “this facility would house community theatre, other arts performances, provide a vendor’s market, be a facility for event rentals and more.”
“We are in the preliminary stage of exploration which involves us working with an architect and beginning with public consultation which we hope to undertake after Easter. We look forward to hearing feedback from the community.”
