Providence Bay News and Notes

It was with great sadness that we read in The Expositor about the passing of Harold Kirk. Our belated condolences go out to his family and friends. He’ll be missed being seen driving around and enjoying our beautiful community.

The Sechels are a family of three from Amherst, Ohio. They are passionate about travel, new experiences, growth, and fun. They’ve created a webpage at www.thsechels.com to blog about and share their travelling experience. This year Providence Bay made it to the top of their “The Best of 2016” list. The Providence Bay Beach Playground was voted the best as per the Manitoulin Tourism Association. Congratulations to the Providence Bay/Spring Bay Lions Club and all the community members for your work on this amazing entertainment for all ages.

Speaking of the beach, we have to mention the boardwalk. It’s always nice to walk the boardwalk in the summer but now it’s nice that we can also enjoy it in the winter. Thank you to the mystery snow blower for keeping us fit and healthy.

Quilting will be starting on Friday, January 13 at 10 am in the Twilight Seniors room at the Providence Bay Centennial Hall. A light lunch will be provided.

Plan to attend the Providence Bay Memorial Arena to cheer on your favourite team comprised of your neighbours and friends this coming weekend. The Annual Pearson Cup Memorial Hockey Tournament is being held this Friday, January 13, until Sunday, January 15. The canteen and beer gardens will be open. We look forward to seeing all the athletes and enjoying the excitement of the competition. Good luck to all involved.
