The township has been around and swept up all of our streets and they’ve finished this year’s beach cleanup too. All of our local seasonal restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlour and local lodgings are now open and ready for business. We are now officially ready for the summer season. Hopefully, we’ll soon see some summer weather.

Congratulations to Kayla McFarlane who graduated from the Practical Nursing program at Cambrian College. Proud Dad Dennis and grandma Bonnie attended the convocation ceremony on May 31 in Sudbury.

Congratulations Ben and Crystal Lentir who celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary on June 4.

Cathy Chant (nee Cranston) and daughter Amanda from Toronto were home to visit Mom Shirley and sister Kerry Cranston last week. This week, Cathy’s son and friend Shawn made it to Nana Shirley’s after a 23 day trip driving across the US to California and returning across Canada.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Bob Caddle, Any Wright and John Boy who all celebrate on Friday, June 8 and Cindy Davis on June 10. If you see them out and about, be sure to wish them a happy birthday.

Did you know: that a Providence Bay lad by the name of Randy McArthur, the son of J.D. and Nelda McArthur of the same sand city, would have made the NHL now with the expansion league? Around the age of 23 and approximately in and around the year 1970, Randy proved to be a top and consistent scorer for Lake Superior State University. For the Lakers’ Randy was the all time scoring leader. In three years of play he had accumulated 92 goals and 70 assists. The 180 lb forward also holds the Lakers’ scoring record for one season with 39 goals in 31 games. Randy is now residing in Tampa Bay, Florida, but visits the Manitoulin in the summer with his family. Congratulations go out to Randy.
