Belated Happy 50th Anniversary wishes go out to Anna and Don Orford. Congratulations and warm wishes for many more years together.

Bryan Morgan of Peterborough and his son Jonathan Francis (24) from Bancroft were home for a surprise visit to mom Sandy Morgan between Christmas and New Year’s. We’re sure she enjoyed the visit.

The Providence Bay/Spring Bay Lions Club masquerade party at the Providence Bay Centennial Hall on New Year’s Eve was a rousing success as usual. There were prizes awarded for best dancer that went out to Mike Neill, best dressed went to Ashley Noble, best mask prize went to Cindy McMaster, and the prize for most beads went to Barb Neill. Thank you for the prizes generously donated from Mindemoya Home Hardware and Buie’s Variety Store in Spring Bay.

Cheryl Sheppard and special friend Alex Daroczi enjoyed a trip to sunny Cayo Santa Maria in Cuba to bring in the New Year. They enjoyed meeting people from all over Canada, Poland, Germany, Australia and of course from Cuba. They went out deep-sea fishing. “The champ” caught a barracuda, and Cheryl caught a mackerel.

Come on out to the arena to take in some hockey action as the Annual Pearson Cup Hockey Tournament is held this Friday, January 11 to Sunday, January 13. There will also be hot foot served at the canteen and a beer garden for socializing. Come on out and have some fun.

Quilting will be beginning again in the Twilight Seniors Club in the basement of the Community Hall on January 18 at 10 am. A light lunch will be provided. All are welcome.
