The North Shore Secondary School Athletics (NSSSA) girls’ curling event was held at the Providence Bay Curling Club on February 17 and 18. The ladies’ bonspiel was a huge success once again. The games brought such a crowd that there was standing room only at times watching all the excitement. It sure is great having the TVs that are positioned over the far end house of the rink for the spectators to watch so everyone can see the action taking place on the north side of the ice. The theme this year was “The Red Necks on the Bay.” The teams put skits on Saturday night for ladies only and they certainly dressed the part. The laughs and applause were so loud I’m sure the whole town must have heard. It was well organized with lunches and dinners were available for everyone. The winning rink for the 1st event was the Sherry Forest rink, the 2nd event was Ellen Holroyd rink and the 3rd was won by the Nancy Leeson rink.
