The Providence Bay Seniors Twilight Club held a luncheon on Monday, January 25. There was a great turnout.
The monthly euchre tournament had a three-way tie with 80 points with 1st going to Irene and Patricia, 2nd going to Brad and Anna, and 3rd was awarded to Peter and Bill. Fourth place winner was Aline and Lily with 79 points. There was also a three-way tie for lone hands with Peter and Bill again, Lenora and Eva, and Anna Brad. Hmmm. It looks like they’re the teams to beat next month. Low hand went to Donna and Bernice. Don’t forget that it’s the last Tuesday of the month, so in February it will be the 23rd. It’s a great night out.
The winter weather has been fairly mild so far. This has been beneficial for the deer. The ones that have been seen are certainly looking like they are faring well. As of news submission deadline we are still wondering what is going to happen with the groundhog this year but by print time it should be all the news. There’s been talk though that the mild weather has not been so great for ice conditions and that there has been open water sighted. Please be aware of where you are travelling. If you’re not sure of the ice depth, stay on picketed lines. If it hasn’t been picketed, stay off. Another way to be sure is to drill a hole and check for yourself. In fact, might as well drop a line. Ice fishing is another popular winter pasttime.
Cheryl Sheppard was back down to Toronto attending training by The Lung Association. It’s so busy down in the city, it sure makes you appreciate returning to Providence Bay.
We’ve been thinking about our snow birds and hope that they are enjoying beautiful weather in their winter homes. We know of visitors to Florida, Texas, Arizona and Mexico. Don’t forget to let us know when you get back and share some of your adventures with those of us left at home.
Happy Birthday wishes go out to yours truly from Ingrid and Trevor Blay.
