There was a box found on Highway 551 by the bridge. If you lost a box while moving, phone 705-377-4449 and identify what is in the box and they will return it to you.
Now that the deer hunt is over it’s nice to see that there are still lots of healthy survivors. I saw six does and fawns one night on the Government Road. One early morning I saw a really nice sized 8-point buck run across the road in front of me.
It’s been getting dark so early and it feels so late at night but it’s too early to go to bed. The weather hasn’t been helping being so dreary that it’s hard to get up in the mornings. Thankfully it will be less than a week until the days start getting longer again. And at least it’s not snowing yet.
Happy belated birthday wishes go out to Les and Elsie Glanville who celebrated their birthdays one day apart from each other last week.
The public skating that is held at the Providence Bay Arena on Saturdays from 7 – 9 pm, and on Sundays from 1 – 3 pm has been generously donated by the Providence Bay and Spring Bay Lions Club. They also sponsor the ‘Moms and Tots’ skate that is held every Saturday morning from 10:30 – 11:30. Although these skating events are free, the arena also welcomes donations that will further help the arena. So sharpen up your skates and get out there.
Welcome our newest community members in Providence Bay, Dave and Josie Irvine and their white curly haired dog Spaghetti. They are now all settled in.
Everyone’s Christmas lights and decorations are looking fantastic. The village square has also been decorated for the festive season. The trees were donated by Jamie McDermid and the Providence Bay Community Centre Board supplied the lights. Thank you for the donations and thanks also to Trevor and Ingrid Blay who planted and strung the lights.
The annual New Year’s Eve dance that is held by the Providence Bay and Spring Bay Lions Club is being held at the Community Centre. Tickets are $15 each. The event is age of majority only and the DJ is John Roy. You can pick up your tickets at Buie’s General Store, Manitoulin Island Meats, the post office or call Matt at 705-377-7149.
