Belated happy birthday wishes go out to Rita Glanville. She celebrated 80 years young!

Peter and Janet Fathers returned from visiting family in England. They said the weather was still nice. In fact, some begonias were still in bloom. They had fun trying to remember to drive on the left hand side of the road.

Public skating has resumed at the Providence Bay Arena on Saturdays from 7 to 9 pm, and on Sundays from 1 to 3 pm. Sponge puck (pond hockey) games are held every Friday night from 7 to 8 pm. Moms and tots skate is held every Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Come on out and enjoy our beautiful arena.

Hats for Hides bins are overflowing with hides. This year there is not the usual ‘Successful Hunter’ patch on the hat, but it’s still a nice blaze orange hat. The bow and muzzle loader season is in full swing and there are still lots of deer around.

The monthly euchre tournament was held Tuesday, the 24th. It’s always held the last Tuesday, of the month. Due to Christmas holidays it won’t be held in December but will resume again in the new year.

With Christmas quickly approaching don’t forget to shop local and support our community businesses. You can purchase gift certificates for house cleaning, hair cuts or products, manicures and pedicures, local foods, wellness treatments like massage or reiki, clothing, herbs, and baked goods. Another great Christmas idea is making a donation in the recipient’s name to their favourite charity.

Condolences go out to the family of Daniel Michael Boivin of Espanola. He and his wife Joyce were long time summer residents at the Providence Bay Park.

The Curling Club breakfast will be held Thursday, December 3. They have peameal bacon, fruit, pancakes, sausages, coffee and smiles. This is a great fundraiser, an excellent meal and the perfect time to get out and visit. Breakfast served 7:30 to 9:30 am.
