There were six tables at euchre last Tuesday night. Ladies’ high was Jean, lone hands Irene and low score Rita. The men’s high Mike, lone hands Mike and low score Bill. What a great way to enjoy a Tuesday evening.
The meat spiel sponsored by Manitoulin Island Meats was another success at the curling club this weekend. There were 12 teams from across the Island registered. The winners of the first event was the Richard Morin rink. Jack Clark’s rink won the second event and Joe Cooper’s rink won the third event. Additional prizes sponsored by The Cheeky Heifer Farm were for the Hog prize which went to Ernie Bevan and The Takeout Artist that was won by Ingrid Blay.

Curfling is held every Monday night at the curling club. It’s a fun evening out that combines curling and shuffle board. If you think you might like to try it out, give Wendy a call at 705-377-5734.
The Curling Club breakfast which is held the first Thursday of every month had over 30 people filling up on sausages, ham, peameal bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, home fries and fresh fruit. What a great meal and good show of support for our community’s curling rink. Plan to come out to the next one on December 3. They continue to have the coffee club weekdays from 7 to 9:30 am.
The Manitoulin Special Olympics is hosting a season opener curling bonspiel to help fund eight athletes that will be attending the National Winter Games in Corner Brook, Newfoundland in February/March 2016. The fundraiser is being held at the Gore Bay Curling Club on November 27 and 28. Teams are guaranteed 3-6 end games. Entrance includes prizes and a lasagna supper on Saturday night. The weather was unbelievably beautiful last week breaking records everywhere and drawing so many people out to the beach and boardwalk. Everywhere people were out doing chores, walking about the town soaking up the warmth of the sun. The eagles were soaring overhead in our sky’s attracting the attention of all our visitors and locals alike. There are still many salmon spotted spawning in the Mindemoya River. Many people are very appreciative of the river’s restoration work that was done in support of all our river inhabitants.
Eight ladies from Providence Bay enjoyed the Christmas Tea in Tehkummah last week which had a great turnout.
Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the annual Fowl Supper being held in the Providence Bay Centennial Hall on Tuesday, November 17. This is held every year on the week of the rifle hunt.
