Pro-active patrol leads to drug arrest


SUDBURY–On the 31st of March, 2014  just prior to midnight, officers of the Greater Sudbury Police were in the east end of Lasalle Boulevard conducting pro-active police patrols. Their attention was drawn to a Chevrolet Cavalier that was parked near the roadway while occupied by two adults.

The officer engaged the driver of the vehicle and noted a very strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the car. The driver was detained and found to be in possession of a marijuana and $575.00 cash. A search of the inside of the vehicle located a bag containing over 200 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia used in drug trafficking. The marijuana seized has a street value of approximately $2000.00.

As a result a 19 year old male is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

He has been released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court April 16th, 2014.
