Woman charged in residential break in

During the day of April 24, a break and enter occurred at a private residence in Sheguiandah. The family dog was stolen. 

The owners contacted the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) when they located their dog inside another residence in Little Current shortly after 10 pm that night. 

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old woman of Little Current has been charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, and uttering threats, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Vehicle rollover results in minor injuries

At approximately 6:40 pm on Friday, April 22, members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP responded to a single vehicle rollover collision involving an automobile on Highway 6 in the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands. The collision resulted in minor injuries to the driver and passenger.

As a result of the collision investigation, a 35-year-old female of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation has been charged with careless driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

OPP traffic stop catches prohibited driver

At 1:40 pm on Friday, April 29, a member of the Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6 at the Township of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands. The driver of the pickup truck was found to be prohibited from driving anywhere in Canada. 

As a result of this investigation, a 51-year-old male of Traverse City, Michigan, has been charged with driving while disqualified by court order, contrary to section 259(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada, and speeding, contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on June 27, 2016.
