UPDATED:Police are investigating the death of resident at Wikwemikong Nursing Home

On behalf of the staff and residents of Wikwemikong Nursing Home, we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Mr. Robert “Jim” Still. We have always, and will continue to strive to provide the best quality of care to the residents of the nursing home. We are fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation of this incident and further conducting our own internal investigation in order to better understand what happened.

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has been notified of the incident.


(WIKWEMIKONG, ON) – On August 26, 2017, the Wikwemikong Tribal Police responded to the Wikwemikong Nursing Home regarding an incident that occurred the evening of August 25, 2017.

A resident of the nursing home was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries but subsequently died on August 30, 2017.

The deceased has been identified as Korean War Veteran Robert Jim STILL, age 85, of Little Current, Ontario. A post mortem examination is scheduled for September 5, 2017, at the Office of the Chief Coroner – Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) in Sudbury.

The Wikwemikong Tribal Police is continuing the investigation with the assistance of the OPP Crime Unit from Sudbury and Forensic Identification Services (FIS) under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) Detective Inspector Mark Zulinski.
