In loving memory of Philomine Wakegijig (nee Barefoot) who died peacefully at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the age of 91. Loving mother to Mary Adeline Lena Stacey (husband Jeffrey predeceased), Glen Joseph Wakegijig (Viola), Karen Theresa Wakegijig (Reginald). Predeceased by Joseph, John, Margaret Lorna, David Alexander, Bernard, Valentine Walter Terence, Baby Boy and Baby Boy. Cherished grandmother of twin girls (predeceased), John, Jamie, Christopher (predeceased), Frank (Amanda), Blayne (Alicia), and Lewis. And great-grandmother of Tayden, Tate, Ty, Tosh, Tameron, Blaise, Jarret, Danielle, Ava and Cierra. Remembered by husband David Wakegijig. Predeceased by all her siblings. Philomine was a loved aunt, family member and friend. Philomine was known for her fine craftsmanship, she made many quilts, quill boxes and other birchbark crafts. She loved cats and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all she loved doting on her children and grandkids. Philomine was a foster mother for years, later she worked for 16 years at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home in the laundry. Visitation was from 2 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Ignatius Church. Funeral Service was at 11 am on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Holy Cross Mission, Wikwemikong. Burial at Wikwemikong Upper Cemetery. Online condolences at www.islandfuneralhome.ca.
