Phil Harper wins MICC championship

Takes top spot for second time by a lone stroke

GORDON—Phil Harper has won the Manitoulin Island Country Club (MICC) championship for a second time, winning the annual event men’s division by a lone stroke over two other competitors.

Mr. Harper posted a two-day, 36-hole total of 175 (83-92) to win the championship. This is the second time Mr. Harper has won the Club championship, the first taking place in 2012. That year, incidentally, Mr. Harper’s wife Cindy won the ladies’ division, the first and only time a couple has won both legs of the MICC club championships.

Jack Clark (90-86) and Tom Sasvari (89-87) finished in a tie for second place at 176, one stroke behind Mr. Harper. John Windsor was fourth (88-93) 181.

While there was no official ladies winner this year (with only two members taking part in the tournament), Allison Idle was first, followed by Sheila Bray in second place.
