Peter Calvin Billings

February 22, 1936 – October 9, 2012

In loving memory of Peter Billings, a resident of Mindemoya, who passed away peacefully at the Manitoulin Health Centre in Mindemoya on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the age of 76 years. Peter, also known as “Farmer Pete” was an amazing man with a heart of gold. His infectious smile and welcoming nature were just some of his endearing qualities. Peter will be remembered by close friends Jean and Jack Cornthwaite of Sudbury, who have offered their love and support to Peter for many years. Their friendship to Peter was as true as any family could be. Community Living Manitoulin residents and staff will miss Peter dearly. We were his family and he was part of ours. For over 20 years Peter lived and worked at the Hope Farm, Maple Terrace and Hope Terrace. Peter taught us that simple pleasures, like sipping coffee with friends, watching horses run wild in a field, or gardening are the ways that connect us as humans and friends, who are travelling through life’s journey together. We will miss Peter but we will never forget the gifts he has given us to cherish. A memorial funeral service to celebrate Peter’s life will be celebrated at The Mindemoya Missionary Church on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 2 pm with Pastor Ray Kloetstra officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at Mindemoya Cemetery. If so desired, donations to Community Living Manitoulin would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.culginfuneralhome.ca. Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay, 705-282-2270.
