Person wanted for first degree murder has been arrested

M’CHIGEENG—Another arrest has been made as part of an ongoing murder investigation involving Brandon Brooks of Toronto who died on April 5, 2022, in a shooting on M’Chigeeng First Nation.

On March 15, 2023, Prince Almando Graham, 38, from North York was arrested and charged with first degree murder contrary to section 235(1) of the criminal code. A warrant had been issued for his arrest.

The accused remains in custody and was scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 14 in Sudbury.

On January 24, Robert Edwards, 31, a band member of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation residing in M’Chigeeng First Nation, was arrested and charged with first degree murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. Five people from southern Ontario had also been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death in M’Chigeeng First Nation. Charged with first-degree murder was a 20-year-old from Newmarket, a 20-year-old from Brampton, a 21-year-old from Brampton, a 26-year-old from Markham and a 30-year-old from Scarborough. The suspects also face several other charges, including trafficking, firearms offences and breaching release orders.

The United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police Crime Unit, in conjunction with the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, the Northeast Region OPP Forensic Identification Service, the Northeast Region OPP Emergency Response Team and the North East Region OPP Community Street Crime Unit, are continuing this investigation under the direction of the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
