WIIKWEMKOONG—The Buzwah Traditional Powwow was held this past Father’s Day weekend. Despite a short but torrential downpour on Sunday morning, the powwow continued as planned at Nimkii Bineshii Kaaning (Thunderbird Park) as the sun shone brightly for most of the weekend.

There were 236 registered dancers and seven drums. A number of specials were held over the weekend including two jingle dress specials, a Father and Son special, and a Men’s Traditional Special in memory of the late Harvey Bondy, who was a traditional dancer.

The weekend crowd was steady with the stands filled near to capacity for most of the weekend. It was a great opportunity to visit with family and friends to start off the summer powwow season!
