OPP seize $800,000 worth of drugs and cash in Elliot Lake

ELLIOT LAKE – On September 14, 2015 at around 8:00 p.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Sudbury Unit, seized a large quantity of cash and drugs following the execution of two search warrants in Elliot Lake.

The investigation focused on an individual from Elliot Lake who was involved in the distribution of large quantities of cocaine and marihuana.

As a result of the investigation, the individual was arrested while attending a storage unit on Kilborn Way in Elliot Lake.  Search warrants were subsequently executed on the storage unit and at a residence on Mississauga Street, which resulted in the seizure of approximately 154 grams of cocaine, approximately 5 kilograms of marihuana and $775,000 in mixed Canadian and US currency.  The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $50,000. 

As a result, Rodney DAVIDSON, 28 years of age from Elliot Lake, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada,
  • Breach of Recognizance, Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused has been held in custody, waiting to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie for a bail hearing.
