OPP charge male in drug seizure
On Saturday, June 28 at 3:09 am, Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a disturbance at the Flat Rock Entertainment Centre Parking and Camping Area in Little Current. Two males were reported to be involved in an altercation and upon investigation one male was arrested and found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana is a 19-year-old of Wikwemikong. He was released on a promise to appear to the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay to answer to the said charge.
OPP investigate break and enter
On Saturday, June 28 at 6:45 pm, Manitoulin OPP was called to investigate a break and enter at a hunt camp in Carnarvon Township. The owner of the property arrived on scene and observed four persons in the residence that had no right to be there. Police were called and the four persons were located. As a result, four persons were charged for trespassing under the Trespass to Property Act.
Routine patrol check leads to arrest
On Tuesday, July 1 at 3:12 pm, Manitoulin OPP was on patrol of Corbett’s Breach Road in Carnarvon Township when a black pick-up truck was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. Upon stopping and checking the driver of the vehicle an odour of alcohol was detected. As a result of this traffic stop the driver of the vehicle was arrested for having over 80 mgs of alcohol in his system. He was transported back to detachment for further breath test.
As a result of this investigation, the driver of the motor vehicle has been charged. Charged with operating a motor vehicle with having over 80 mgs of alcohol is a 58-year-old of Bluewater, Ontario. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of August 25, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay.
