OPP Catches Impaired Driver, Spring Bay

SPRING BAY – On the morning of June 5, 2016, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Communications Centre in North Bay received a phone call from a concerned citizen reporting an impaired driver operating a pickup truck in Spring Bay, Ontario. Manitoulin OPP officers located the vehicle and driver in Spring Bay. The driver was arrested for impaired driving.

As a result of this investigation, a 49 year old man of Campbell Township, Ontario has been charged with impaired care or control of a motor vehicle, and exceeding the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, contrary to section 253(1) (a) & 253(1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on June 8, 2016.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
