OPP apprehend fleeing prohibited driver


CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES– A member of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop an eastbound vehicle on Whitewood Avenue in New Liskeard on March 15, 2014 at approximately 2:02 p.m.

Police activated emergency lights and sirens while the suspect vehicle continued to flee through a school zone and residential area.  A second police vehicle arrived and the suspect vehicle was safely stopped within a short distance.

Jason LAUZON, 35, of Haileybury is charged for Driving While Disqualified – section 259(4) of the Criminal Code, Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer – section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code, Dangerous Operation – section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana – section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Fail to stop for police – section 216 of the Highway Traffic Act.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

The accused will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on April 29, 2014.
