Notes on the viability of electric vehicles

As infrastructure increases, range anxiety will lessen

To the Expositor:

A relative of mine recently informed me that they drive an electric car around town and for long trips they lease a PHEV vehicle. They live in Texas, USA.

Even more recently, I was talking to a gas jockey and said that I have only seen about three or four electric cars on the road so far. They replied that they have only seen two electric cars in the last two years. When I asked if he could suggest that a charger be installed where he works, he replied that electric cars lose charge quicker in the winter. I countered that it means they have to charge up more on the road.

That conversation brought to mind about an online article I read about a Canadian reporting on EV. His first point was ‘range anxiety’ was nullified by an established charging infrastructure. Next, the cost of a home charger was $1,700, finally the cost to your electric bill was negligible.

Sincerely,

Allan Trudeau
