Northeast Town FD responds to sewing machine blaze

BIDWELL ROAD—At approximately 7:30 pm on Sunday, October 23, the Northeast Town Fire Department responded to a call for a house fire on Bidwell Road, near the Cup and Saucer.

Crews responded to find the cause of the blaze—a sewing machine that had caught fire in an upstairs sewing room. The team quickly threw the fiery sewing machine outside, Fire Chief Darren Bailey reported. Crews then assessed the rest of the house for any other fires, but none were found.

The upper level of the home, especially the sewing room, suffered much smoke and fire damage as a result, the fire chief added.

The fire department was at the scene for a little over an hour.

Fire Chief Bailey said it was good stroke of luck that the fire did not spread, but stayed contained to the machine.
