NORMAN PETER SHAWANGONABE

In loving memory of Norman Shawangonabe, a resident of Toronto, who passed away at St. Michael’s Hospital on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the age of 68 years. He was born in M’Chigeeng, son of the late Vincent and Annie (Southwind) Shawangonabe. He had lived in Toronto for 46 years, where he had worked at a car wash for 10 years, then worked in high-rise restoration. Norman liked to play guitar and bingo. He really loved to play Pro Line lottery, and was very happy to win, whether it was $6 or $15! He liked to watch sports on TV and a favourite pastime was visiting thrift shops. Norman is survived by his beloved wife Mary Ann Beboning of Toronto. Loved father of Patricia of Toronto, Priscilla of Timmins, Steve of Kitchener, step-children Joey (Francine) and James (Sara) all of M’Chigeeng and Sally, Lewis and Walter all of Toronto. Also survived by many grandchildren. Dear brother of Viola of Vancouver, Josephine of Lansing, Michigan, James of Kingston, Ida of Windsor, Lawrence (Joanne) of Wikwemikong and sister-in-law Grace of Port Huron, Michigan. Predeceased by siblings Alice, Doris, Leonard, Donaphus, Charles, Sam and Mary-Ann. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives called at Saswaahns Spiritual Centre, 44 Tikmeg Road, M’Chigeeng after 3 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2011. The funeral service to celebrate Norman’s life was conducted at Saswaahns on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10 am. Interment in M’Chigeeng Cemetery.
