‘Two if by Sea’ – This is a suspenseful novel that is about the best and worst In people and the possibility of heroism and even magic in ordinary life. Just hours after his wife and her entire family perish in the Christmas Eve tsunami in Brisbane, American expat and former police officer Frank Mercy pulls a little boy from a submerged car, saving the child’s life with only seconds to spare. In that moment, Frank’s life is transformed….

‘At The Edge of the Orchard’ – This is a riveting drama of a pioneer family on the American frontier. In 1838 James and Sadie Goodenough have settled where their wagon got stuck in the muddy, stagnant swamps of northwest Ohio. They and their five children work relentlessly to tame their patch of land.

‘Clawback’ (an Ali Reynolds novel) – Ali’s parents are beyond devastated when they learn that their hard earned retirement savings have suddenly disappeared in a massive Ponzi scheme. The sting is sharper because the Larsons considered their trusted financial adviser, Dan Frazier, to be an ally and friend. Feeling he must confront his onetime friend, Bob makes an ill-timed visit to Frazier’s house, only to stumble upon the scene of a double homicide.

‘Private Paris’ – Someone is targeting the most powerful people in Paris and only Jack Morgan can make it stop. As tensions simmer in the City of Light, only Jack and his elite private team can connect the dots before the smoldering powder keg explodes. A good read.

‘Beyond: Our Future In Space ‘- A tour of humanity’s forays into space looks to the future, marveling at the dizzying potential of manned space flight. Astrophysicist Chris Impey shows that humans have a genetic urge to explore stretching back millennia, and takes us to the front lines of the new space race. He reports on China’s plan to launch its own space station by 2020, proves that humans could survive on Mars and unveils cutting-edge innovations such as the space elevators poised to replace rockets at a fraction of the cost. An interesting read.

Our workshops have now ended. Thanks to everyone who attended and make them such a success.

Hopefully we will find another grant available so we can continue to offer these kinds of services to the community.

Remember our IT tech is available every Wednesday from 10 am to 12 noon to help you with any problems you may have with your computer. Bring your own laptop in and he will try and solve your problems. This is a free service we offer our library patrons.

At the Providence Bay library we are now offering free Internet service. We have three computers available for you to use and printers are available for your convenience. Lots of new books at the Providence Bay library, as well as a fax machine and colour copier. Come check out the Providence Bay library!

And virtual reality is also coming and should be here in a couple of weeks. With our virtual reality headsets and your smart phone you can venture Under The Ocean, Walk through the Aztec Ruins,

Take a roller coaster ride or go to Jurassic Park and walk with the dinosaurs. Exciting news. I can’t wait to try them myself.
