‘Invasion of Privacy’ by Christopher Reich – In a dangerous new age of high-tech surveillance, a young mother takes on a powerful Internet magnate in a harrowing quest to learn the truth behind her FBI agent husband’s death. FBI special agent Joe Grant and a confidential informant are killed in a deadly shoot-out. The official report places the blame on Joe’s shoulders, but Mary Grant his young wife refuses to believe it. There are too many troubling questions that no one is willing to answer.
‘The Ultimatum’ by Dick Wolf – Detective Jeremy Fisk tracks a serial sniper who is terrorizing New York City with state-of-the-art airborne technology. With the clock ticking and millions of lives at stake, the mastermind must be found before he can wreak havoc on a city paralyzed by fear.
‘The Book of Speculation’ by Erika Swyler – This is this author’s debut and is a good read, hopefully she will continue to write. This story is about a young librarian, living alone in a house that is slowly crumbling towards the Long Island Sound. His parents are long dead. His mother, a circus mermaid who made her living by holding her breath, drowned in the very water his house overlooks. His young sister ran off to join the circus six years ago. One June day, an old book arrives on Simon’s doorstep. Fragile and water damaged, the book is a log from the owner of a travelling carnival in the 1700s, who reports strange and magical things—including the drowning death of a circus mermaid. Since then generations of “mermaids” in Simon’s family have drowned-always on July 24. This is an amazing novel about the power of books, family and magic.
‘Charlie Martz and Other Stories’ by Elmore Leonard – A highly entertaining collection of never before seen stories and several previously published pieces from the bestselling master of crime fiction Elmore Leonard. This collection of stories was produced early in Elmore Leonard’s career when he was making his name, particularly with westerns. Followers of Elmore Leonard will marvel at these early works that reveal a developing artist.
‘The Santangelos’ by Jackie Collins – This bestselling author is back with an explosive story with one of America’s most glamorous and dynamic Italian families. From the fabulous watering holes of the South of France to the chic fashion runways of Milan to the glittering casinos of Las Vegas, the Santangelos rule, and lucky will always come out on top. An epic family saga filled with love, lust, and revenge.
‘The President’s Shadow’ by Brad Meltzer – A severed arm found buried in the White House Rose Garden. A lethal message with terrible consequences for the presidency. And a hidden secret in one family’s past that will have repercussions for the entire nation. A really good read.
