July 2023 – Claire’s Picks

‘Whispers At Dusk’ by Heather Graham
‘Cross Down’ by James Patterson
‘Inside Threat’ by Matthew Quirk
‘Rogue Justice’ by Stacey Abrams
‘The 9th Man’ by Steve Berry

‘Whispers At Dusk’ – This is the start of a new series The Blackbird Trilogy by an author I usually enjoy reading. She also wrote the series Krewe of Hunters which is another one of her series that I would recommend. So  Whispers at Dark is an offshoot of the Krewe of Hunters. Enjoy

‘Cross Down’ – Alex Cross is gravely injured, only his partner and friend John Sampson can keep him safe and get him justice. For the first time Detective John Sampson is on his own without his partner Detective Alex Cross. It has always been Alex makes his own rules and John enforces them. When military-style attacks erupt, brutally sidelining Cross, Sampson is sent reeling. The patterns are too random and don’t trust anyone was the last statement Cross told Sampson. As a shadow force advances on the nation’s capital, Sampson alone must protect the Cross family, his own young daughter and every American including the president. A good and fast read.

‘Inside Threat’ – This kept me reading far into the night, I enjoyed it.  An attack on the White House sends the president and his closest aides to take shelter in a top secret government facility buried deep underground – but they soon discovered the threat is locked with them.

‘Rogue Justice’ – A riveting and intricately plotted thriller in which a blackmailed federal judge, a secret court, and a brazen murder may lead to an unprecedented national national crisis. Drawing from today’s headlines and weaving in her unique insider perspective, this novel combines twisting plot lines, wry wit, and clever puzzles to create another immensely entertaining suspense novel.

‘The 9th Man’ – This was very interesting and made me really wonder what happened in the President Kennedy assassinations and yes they are still writing books about this tragedy that happen many years ago. This is a fiction novel but so much truth in the story that it kept me reading and reading. Luke Daniels in is London between assignments with the Magellan Billet, when he receives a frantic call from an old friend. Jillian Stein is in trouble. She made a mistake and now her life may be in danger. Racing to Belgium he finds a shadow team of highly trained operatives is there on the hunt. Intervening he finds himself embroiled in a war between two determined sides – one seeking the truth, the other trying to escape the past – a war that has already claimed one life and is about to claim more.
