NEW-ish to Manitoulin residents get acquainted

SANDFIELD—On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in September, Heather Marshall, Expositor columnist and author of the popular ‘New-ish to Manitoulin’ column, invited all whose stories she’s told to a meet and greet. In addition to these interesting people, the publishers of the paper, Alicia McCutcheon, and her parents, Rick and Julia McCutcheon, were also in attendance.

Heather Marshall organized the event, but the McCutcheons graciously provided the catered food and drink. In addition, wonderful live and local entertainment was provided and very much appreciated.

Those gathered recognized each other from the stories Heather had written; Beth and Joe Arnold of Island Time Dancers were there, as well as Chef Artem Donskov and family from BEAR LC, Miss Universe Canada, Madison Kvaltin, though unable to attend, sent a video greeting. There were those who have brought new businesses to the Island, those who have come to retire and those who have come with young families to begin a new way of life: a collection of warm, friendly individuals who have come here to embrace the special quality that is Manitoulin Island.
