LITTLE CURRENT––A hotel project slated for the waterfront acreage to the west of the Manitoulin Tourism Association Welcome Centre on Highway 6 has taken an important step forward with the submission of the site plan to the Northeast Town.
“The site plan has been submitted and our staff are currently reviewing it,” said Northeast Town CAO Dave Williamson. Mr. Williamson noted that the site plan will be going forward to the municipal council at the June 7 council meeting.
The project is being overseen by the Sudbury architectural firm of Perry and Perry Architects Inc., the same firm which designed the project. Perry and Perry will also act as general contractors for the project.
(The assignment of the architects as general contractors for the hotel project is a marked departure from the traditional design process where the owner hires an architect to prepare the design plan and then goes out to seek contractors to bid for the task of general contractor.)
