Nelson Edwin Ward died peacefully at Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the age of 99. He was an educator, a builder, a traveller and an outdoors man. Born to Mary Ward (Brown) and Everett Ward, in Logan Township on February 24, 1917. Predeceased by his wife Thelma (Coghlin) Ward (2014). Loved father of daughter Patricia Mack and son Edwin (Marilyn) Ward. Cherished by grandchildren Randy (Cathy) Mack, Julie Ward (predeceased), Jennifer (Victor) Romard, Christel (Jesse) Mack/Boudreau, David (Jaclyn) Ward and his 10 great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his sister Florence Ward. Predeceased by sisters Viola (Jack) Byrick and Jane (Ben) Bernie. Brother-in-law to Dulcie (Charles) Fotheringham, Joyce (William) Wall, Phyllis (1st husband: Walter Hohner, 2nd husband: Arthur Whitelaw) and June (Elgin) Rea. Will always be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends gathered at Island Funeral Home for visitation from 7 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Funeral Service at 11 am on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 with Rev. Martin Garniss officiating. Burial will be at Elma Centre Cemetery. Donations to Manitoulin Cenntenial Manor Auxiliary or the Little Current United Church would be greatly appreciated. Island Funeral Home can only accept cheques for all charitable donations.
