NICKEL BELT—New Democrats nominated Andreane Chenier as the New Democrat party candidate for Sudbury East-Manitoulin-Nickel Belt this past Sunday. Ms. Chenier joins a team of New Democrats “fighting for supports for Canadians that will help make their lives more affordable and delivering dental care and free birth control.”
“I’ve been hearing from people how they’re working hard but still can pay the bills,” said Ms. Chenier. “New Democrats want to support Northern Ontarians by bringing down these sky-high costs. It would be an honour to fight for Northern Ontarians in Ottawa, as time and time again, both the Liberals and Conservatives leave them behind to help their CEO friends. Now more than ever, people need a real champion on the issues that matter to them, and I’m ready to fight for the people of Northern Ontario.”
Ms. Chenier, a Franco-Ontarian, has dedicated her life to the labour movement as staff for a major public sector union. She’s passionate about advocating for service and opportunities for Francophone families in Northern Ontario as well as fighting for working class families.
She said she understands what Northern Ontarians are going through. People are seeing the cost of living go through the roof while the greedy telecom and grocery CEOs make record profits by jacking up prices. Every elected New Democrat goes to Ottawa to fight to make life better for hardworking people. Unlike the Conservatives, we’ll never cut the public health care services, pensions and Employment Insurance working people depend on.”
