MSS to compete at NOSSA gymnastics championships Friday

SUDBURY—Some 130 students, including the Manitoulin Mustangs, will participate in the City/Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics (NOSSA) Gymnastics Championships on Friday, April 13 from 8 am to 4:30 pm.  

Competitors from the four area school boards will vie for honours in five events: floor, vault, beam, bars and aerobic gymnastics. The competition will take place at the GymZone Family Fitness Centre, 1311 Gemmell Street in Sudbury.  

Medals will be presented for first, second and third place finishes. Ribbons will be presented for 4th to 8th place finishes (individual and overall). There will also be plaques for team champions (levels 1 to 6).

Participating schools include Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School, Confederation Secondary School, Lockerby Composite School, Manitoulin Secondary School, Collège Notre-Dame, École secondaire catholique Champlain, École secondaire catholique l’Horizon, École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier, Bishop Alexander Carter Catholic Secondary School, Marymount Academy, St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School and École secondaire publique Northern/Northern Secondary School.

Results will be posted on the Sudbury District Secondary Schools’ Athletic Association (SDSSAA) website at www.sdssaa.rainbowschools.ca.

Qualifying student-athletes will participate in the OFSAA Gymnastics Championships at École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier from April 22 to 24.
