MSS Kids in the Halls

Today is National Pasta day! I would recommend having some type of paste for lunch or supper today! A pasta joke for you: What do you call a sick pasta? Mac n’ sneeze!

MSS was full of cheer on Tuesday, October 9! Both the junior and senior girls basketball teams played at MSS. The senior girls played the W.C. Eaket Royals from Blind River. It was a very close game and ended up going into double overtime! The Mustangs finally won 31-27! The junior girls played against the Catholique l’Horizon Aigles from Val Caron. MSS won 25-15! Great job, girls!

Also, Tuesday, October 9 was customer appreciation day in the cafeteria!

On Wednesday, October 10 the cross-country team participated at Pre-NSSSA. Everyone ran their hearts out and did great!

The junior girls’ basketball team was back in action on Thursday, October 11 in Elliot Lake. After a great game, the girls unfortunately lost 12-24 to the Elliot Lake Atoms.

On Friday, October 12 a robotics meeting was held at lunch for all members to attend.

Today, October 17, MSS will be hosting a boys’ volleyball tournament! Both the junior and senior teams will be playing. Good Luck, Mustangs!

Tomorrow, October 18, there will be a university information program at Lockerby Secondary School from 7 to 9 pm. Anyone in Grade 12 and planning to go to University is welcome to attend.

On Tuesday, October 23 a representative from Georgian College will be at MSS at 12:20 pm.

On Thursday, October 25, a representative from Algoma University will be at MSS at 1:40 pm. If you are a Grade 12 student that is interested in attending, please sign the list that will be in the guidance office closer to the date. For more information go to www.ouf.ca.

This year, MSS will be putting on the musical production The Mikado! A meeting for any interested actors, techies, make-up artists, etc. was held on Thursday, October 11. Everyone is very excited for the auditions to begin! Auditions for high school students will be held from October 22-24 after school. The auditions consist of one minute of a song, a monologue, and a short dance (previously choreographed). Auditions for elementary students will be held on Saturday, October 27. Anyone is welcome to come out and audition! There are many different roles that need to be filled, whether you want to sing, speak, dance, etc. If you have any questions, speak with director, Mr. Zegil, Mr. Thejismejier or Ms. Bauer!

Tryouts for both the girls’ and boys’ hockey teams are complete. It is now time for the first puck to drop at their first exhibition games!

Last week’s weekly intention was “live in the moment, be present!”

Thank you to the students who participated in the Magazine Drive. Also, thank you to everyone who bought either a magazine subscription or a tervis tumbler! I hope everyone enjoys reading the magazines they bought or having a warm cup of hot chocolate or coffee in their new tumbler!
