Students are always busy at MSS!
Let’s take a look at what they were up to this week.
Spymaster is back once again! Every year, students at MSS participate in a school-wide game that keeps everyone on their toes! Sign-up booths will be stationed outside the gym until Wednesday, May 15. After at least 75 people have registered, the game will begin. Each participant will be given a clothespin and a target. Students must “pin” their target during school hours (with the exception of in-class time). Once you have been “pinned” you are eliminated. The game continues until there is one student standing. Participation costs just $2, with prizes awaiting winners! Spymaster can get very competitive with students hiding around corners, in homerooms, or even in the crowds. Best of luck to everyone participating!
Last week was Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is “A Call To Be Kind,” with a focus on having compassion. MSS kicked off the week with a quote from Dalai Lama: “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” On the morning announcements, the three types of compassion were discussed, giving compassion, receiving compassion, and self-compassion. Hopefully, by being compassionate, everyone can improve their mental health!
Last Wednesday, May 8 MSS hosted Tennis Pre-NSSSA (North Shores Secondary Schools Athletic Association). Students from across the North Shore gathered to compete in practice matches in preparation for NSSSA. NSSSA was also hosted at MSS on Monday, May 13.
It is time for graduating students to select their Valedictorian. This year’s Valedictorian will represent the graduating class at the graduation ceremony. Students interested in voting for the Valedictorian must fill out a form in the main office no later than Monday, May 13.
