M’CHIGEENG—Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) is hosting its annual electronic waste community collection event from May 26-May 31.
Manitoulin residents are being encouraged to bring any dead electronics, including appliances, batteries of any size, and devices next to the school basketball court (at the back of the school) on the collection dates.
“Join us as we raise funds and ensure the materials inside end-of-life electronics stay out of our landfills, waste streams and water tables,” a release states. “The earth is reaching out for our help.”
The waste collected help MSS raise funds for the Manitoulin Metal Robotics team, as the school takes the materials to a recyclable plant which pays for these items.
The electronic waste community collection event will take place May 26-30 from 3-5 pm, and Saturday, May 31, from 10 am to 2 pm.
